IBRAHIM ABUBAKERAngola and Nigeria observed a minute’s silence prior to the start of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) practice match at the TUKS Stadium in Pretoria on Wednesday afternoon in honor of a Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) official who was shot dead in his native country the same day.

Ibrahim Abubakar (43) who was head of the NFF Protocol is reported by The Vanguard newspaper to have been brutally murdered in cold blood by armed robbers at his home during the early hours of Wednesday at Kado Estate near Gwarinpa in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

A traumatized NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said of Abubakar’s sudden death:

“He was full of life when he left the office yesterday; the Federation has lost a dedicated and assiduous staff. This is so painful.”
